Jake + Gabby’s Engagement Portraits
When planning engagement sessions, I always let my couples decide where they want to take their photos. Included in that planning, is the option to make their session an experience and not just a photo session. Sometimes it’s a picnic, sometimes it’s an outfit change, and sometimes its traveling to a new or exciting place and capturing the adventure that entails. And that’s exactly what Jake + Gabby had in mind for their engagement session.
Right in the midst of the changing fall season, we headed to Asheville to capture photos in a place special to their hearts. The trail we hiked held memories of when they first started dating and going on adventures together and I loved coming back and having that full circle moment with them.
An all day hike full of pretty views and scenery was our goal….along with taking photos too! While the leaves were pretty, the weather was colder than anticipated at a crisp 39 degrees to start the day off. (We were grateful for the warming sun as we hiked!)
One of the coolest parts (no pun intended) of their session was getting to photograph Gabby’s custom designed engagement ring. Jake found a custom jeweler, Go check out his work here! I promise it’s the coolest ever, and got to work designing Gabby’s ring. When I finally saw it in person it took several minutes before picking my jaw up off the floor. It truly is a work of art and has such a meaningful story behind its creation.
Throughout the day and their session nothing was more apparent than how much these two love each other. I have never seen two people love and care for the other as much as they do, in conjunction with being goofy and fully themselves together.
I truly can’t wait to see where their story takes them, as I believe they are just getting started in writing one of the sweetest love stories there ever was.
Gabby + Jake, it was a blast hiking a mountain with you and capturing such an exciting season in your lives.
